The Support Scheme for Renewable Heat (SSRH) opened for applications on September 12th 2018. This scheme provides an installation grant for air, ground and water source heat pumps. The grant funds up to 30% of eligible costs and €7 million was provided for this stage of the Scheme in Budget 2018. Applications are open for commercial, industrial, agricultural, district heating and other non-domestic heat users not in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme.
The primary objective of the government funded SSRH is to increase the level of renewable energy in the heat sector. This will contribute to meeting Ireland’s 2020 renewable energy targets and to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
It’s expected that the operational support for biomass and anaerobic digestion heating systems will be introduced in late 2018/early 2019. This is awaiting State Aid approval from the European Commission.
Further information on this grant scheme is available in the Sustainable Solutions section of the SEAI website.
